Like many colleges, my school’s bookstore is trying to force students into paying an exhorbinant amount of money for their new and used books. They withhold ISBN numbers from students until the week before school – hoping it’s too late for them to order online at a cheaper rate. I’m determined to be a frugal student and put more money toward additional credits rather than being held hostage by the bookstore/monopoly-wanna-be.
That said – is there an online database where I can search for the ISBN numbers of the books I need for class so that I can ensure I’m getting the right book online? I know that a lot of websites are reliable without using the ISBN, but I’ve been burned in the past when I was sent the wrong edition, so I’d like to be a little more specific this time around.
I haven’t saved a mere $20-$30 in the past. I’ve purchased my books for several semesters online. I spent perhaps 30 minutes and saved over 75% at times off of the rip-off prices from the bookstore. But thanks for the editorial anyway.
